La Sève is MDO Lacquer new art studio. After 23 years spent in Asia and Canada, Marie-Dominique Boneu Hyman has come back to the Occitanie region where she was born in 1971. La Sève is the place when she leads her carrier as a lacquer painter, exhibits her original artworks and various prints, as well as ceramics restored with the traditional Japanese technique, Kintsugi.

Two Days Kintsugi Workshop

Price : 200€, materials included. (Brass powder used. 5€ additional/cm if 24c gold powder)
Study all the necessary steps to create your own Kintsugi project. You will transform your broken object into a veritable work of art.
After an introduction to the Kintsugi philosophy, you will learn how to make the lacquer glue, then put your broken (into 2 to 4 pieces) ceramic piece together. You can also purchase an object at the studio. Then the clay filler will be applied to fill up cracks and chipped areas.
The 2nd day, you will sand the clay paste to prepare the application of black lacquer. Gilding is then done in the afternoon, as is packaging for transport.

Over the course you will complete a composition on a pre-prepared wooden panel.
You will be able to experiment with eggshell and/or mother-of-pearl incrustation, linear design, marking the initial layers using seeds, water drops, mother-of-pearl or silver powder projections.
You will then apply layers of different colours before revealing your picture by sanding.
